Pizza With Mexican Filling and Toppings
This Mexican-style meal knockoff includes refried beans and spiced ground beef. The pizzas have a variety of toppings, including salsa, cheeses (Monterey Jack and Cheddar), tomatoes, green onion, and jalapeño slices.
Tips for Keeping Mexican Pizza Fresh
These homemade Mexican pizzas are best served immediately so the tortillas stay crunchy. But if there are any leftovers, just wrap them in foil or put them in an airtight container and refrigerate for at least two days. Then, warm them through in the oven.
Suggestions and Acknowledgements
Sharon H. says the whole family loved them. Because I needed more time, I skipped measuring out each flavour and just used a packet of taco seasoning. I doubled the recipe and put the pizzas on cookie sheets.”
“So delicious,” exclaims Stefani Anderson. “I omitted the meat as we’re vegetarian and just added the spices to the onions and garlic while they were sautéing. Without a doubt, I will prepare it again!
“I needed something light and Mexican, and this pizza delivered,” Sandi remarks. This was my lunch today. Very simple. A rectangle glass baking dish worked just well in place of the two pie plates.”
Here are the ingredients you will need:
½ pound of ground beef,
one medium diced onion,
one minced clove of garlic,
one tablespoon of chilli powder,
one teaspoon of ground cumin,
½ teaspoon of paprika,
½ teaspoon of salt,
½ teaspoon of black pepper,
1 16 ounce can of refried beans,
4 10 inch flour tortillas,
¾ cup of salsa,
1 cup each of shredded Cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese,
two chopped green onions,
two diced tomatoes,
¼ cup of thinly sliced jalapeño pepper,
½ cup of sour cream (optional).
Directions
- Set oven temperature to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, or 175 degrees Celsius. Apply nonstick cooking spray to two pie plates.
- In a skillet set over medium heat, combine the ground meat, onion, and garlic. It should take about 5 to 7 minutes for the beef to brown evenly and become crumbly. Drain and discard grease. Temper the meat with paprika, chilli powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
- Top with a layer of refried beans and place one tortilla in each pie plate. Spread 1/2 of the seasoned ground beef over each one, and then cover with a second tortilla. Bake in the preheated oven until tortillas are crisp, about 10 minutes.
- Take the pizzas out of the oven and let them cool for a while. Then spread 1/2 of the salsa over each top tortilla. Half of the Cheddar and half of the Monterey Jack cheese should be spread over each pizza. On top of each, distribute half of the tomatoes, half of the green onions, and half of the jalapeño slices.
- Put the pizzas back in the oven and bake for another 5 to 10 minutes or until the cheese melts. Slice each pizza into four equal pieces after they have cooled slightly.
Tasty Taco Bell Mexican Pizza Recipe!
Without a doubt, my favourite fast food joint on Earth is Taco Bell. Please, don’t pass judgment on me. I’ve had a soft spot for Taco Bell since I was fourteen years old, and that fondness has only deepened over the years.
My favourite item to order is the Mexican Tortilla Pizza. Bean Burritos, Spicy Tostadas, and 7 Layer Burritos are some of my favourite items on the menu, second only to their Mexican Pizza.
Even though I try to be mindful of what I eat on a regular basis, I still find myself craving Taco Bell’s fried version from time to time. Luckily, I can make some of their mouthwatering dishes at home.
Precisely What Is Mexican Pizza From Taco Bell?
The Mexican Pizza at Taco Bell consists of two flour tortillas that have been deep-fried, stacked, and then topped with salsa, refried beans, and cheese. The pizza is then heated and garnished with jalapenos, scallions, and tomatoes.
At Taco Bell, you can get a beef version or a vegetarian version of the pizza. Taco Bell’s Veggie Mexican Pizza is delicious, of course, because I’m a vegetarian.
Bold Claim: My version of this vegetarian Mexican Pizza tastes way better than Taco Bell’s version. This is a strong assertion, I realize, but it is accurate. Read the reviews down below.
Believe me when I say my homemade pizza is superior to Taco Bell’s because it stays crisp, and half of the cheese and veggies stay on top. I hope you all give this recipe a try.
Ingredients For Taco Bell Mexican Pizza
The components of a Taco Bell Mexican Pizza are simple and straight to the point.
Tortillas: This Taco Bell knockoff calls for an 8-inch white flour tortilla, no matter how much I’d instead use whole wheat. There’s nothing special about the ingredients, but it’s homemade, so that’s something.
Refried Pinto Beans: I used canned organic refried pinto beans from Trader Joe’s, and they’re delicious.
Taco Seasoning: You can use any brand of taco seasoning; however, my favourite is the spicy one from Trader Joe’s.
Diluting the beans slightly requires a small amount of water.
Chop some white onion; yes, we are seasoning the beans with it. You’ll need it for the beans.
On the Pizza, you can find salsa, scallions, tomatoes, jalapenos, and Mexican cheese. Everything you need to make the pizza toppings is right here.
Mexican Pizza Recipe from Taco Bell and How to Make It
STEP 1 – PREPARE THE TORTILLA PYRAMIDS
- Get the oven to 400 degrees before you begin. Coat a baking sheet with foil.
- Lightly coat both sides of two tortillas with avocado oil and set them on a flat surface. To keep the tortillas from ballooning, prick them with a fork.
- Once preheated, put the tray in the oven. Bake for 11 minutes, flip halfway through baking, and bake for 5 ½ minutes on each side. You can add multiple tortillas at a time.
- Make the tortillas.
STEP 2 – MAKE THE BEANS & CHOP VEGGIES
- While waiting, bring the beans to a boil. Transfer the refried beans to a saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium heat.
- Combine the taco seasoning with 1/4 to 1/2 cups of water. Do not add salt since the taco seasoning has enough salt.
- Meanwhile, finely mince one onion. Add the onion to the beans. After everything is hot, remove the pan from the heat.
- Chop the tomatoes, scallions, and jalapenos. Set cheese aside.
STEP 3 – ASSEMBLE MEXICAN PIZZA
- Spoon a small amount of beans onto the tortilla.
- Add a touch of salsa and spread on top. Feel free to use whatever salsa you prefer; Taco Bell sauce is also an option.
- put the other tortilla on top.
- After that, add salsa once more. Spread.
- Top with scallions, tomatoes, and jalapenos.
- Sprinkle cheese on top, being careful to cover all sides.
Back on the foil-lined baking sheet, return the Mexican Tortilla Pizza to the oven and bake for approximately 5 minutes at 400 degrees. Verify in three minutes.
Eight, the Mexican Pizza is done. Slice into four pieces and top with Taco Bell sauce for a hot serving. You can also garnish with onions, cilantro, or sour cream. Enjoy!
Recommended Serving Sizes
SERVE THE MEXICAN PIZZA WITH: • Taco Bell Sauce, of course… spicy, mild, or fire. I prefer hot. • You can also serve it with Guacamole and sour cream. • A side of Mexican Rice with lettuce would also be delicious.
